The shop supplies newspapers, bread, groceries, vegetables, milk, wines and beers, hardware, mobile top-up cards and stationery.  Newspapers and groceries can be delivered from Monday to Saturday.  Newspapers are available from the shop on Sundays.  The shop is also a registered dealer for Calor Gas supplies.  Cash can be withdrawn from your bank account using the machine at the desk, or by cashing a cheque.  Cheques must be accompanied by a valid cheque guarantee card.

Milk is delivered throughout the village on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.  Orders are taken for deliveries of bread, fruit juice, groceries and other household requirements.  George, our milkman, was elected Best Depot Milkman for the region.

 

MOBILE LIBRARY
The Mobile Library Van visits the Barnack each Wednesday.  It calls at:

 

Barnack Church (West Gate)               11.15 am - 11.40 am

Barnack C of E School                        11.50 am - 12.10 pm

School Road                                       12.10 pm - 12.25 pm

Burghley House                                    1.30 pm - 1.55 pm

 

In addition, once a month, it also visits Little Northfields from 9.45 am - 10.15 am and The Acres from 10.20 am - 11.00 am.

 

DOG TRAINING

Puppy and adult dog training classes are available and 1:1 training can be arranged.  Julia is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

 

WASTE COLLECTION


REFUSE COLLECTION

Collection day for Barnack and Pilsgate is Monday.  Grey bins are collected fortnightly, green and brown bins are collected on the opposite fortnightly service. 

 

Grey bins are for the general rubbish that cannot be recycled.

 

Green bins are for some waste that can be recycled (plastic bottles, paper, newspapers,, magazines, brochures and directories, cardboard, paper bags, paper wrapping, bottles, tins, cans, aerosols and squash cartons).  Other plastic containers such as yoghurt pots, plastic boxes and bags cannot be catered for in the present machinery

 

Brown bins (not collected at the beginning of January) are for compostable plant and vegetable waste only.  There should be no food waste or plastic flowers in it.

BULKY WASTE ITEMS and ELECTRICAL GOODS COLLECTION SERVICE

There is a bulky waste collection service availabe to all householders.  Every household may have one free collection, of not more than five items, each year.  A charge will be made for all subsequent collections.

DISPOSAL OF UNWANTED USABLE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

SOFA will collect any items which you may want to dispose of, but are still in reasonable repair or full working order.  SOFA uses these for families in need or for spare parts for replacement purposes.  A small charge of £5.00 is made for each collection.  SOFA collects from Barnack and Pilsgate each Wednesday and Friday.
