The John Clare Countryside Project – Work Party, Saturday 26th February
Come along to The Millstone at 10am this Saturday to hear about the work of the John Clare Countryside project, and how villagers throughout the 18 parishes that form the JCC area are helping to ‘double nature’ within each of their parishes over the next ten years. Barnack parish is included in the JCC area, and we need your help to ensure that Mother Nature is given a helping hand locally.
Following on from the wildlife questionnaire that was distributed last year and the creation of the new wildflower meadow in Little Northfields, there will be opportunities for Barnack residents to make a difference in combating climate change, and later on this year will include activities such as putting up bird boxes, bat boxes and bee hotels, planting wildflower bulbs and creating more wildflower meadows in the parish.
On Saturday morning we’re going to be working with Natural England on the Hills and Holes, to help improve the habitat for wildflowers. All the tools and PPE will be provided, so all you’ll need to do to lend a hand is to come along wearing stout footwear and suitable outdoor clothing. We’re meeting at the Millstone at 10am until around 10:30am and we’ll then go over to the Hills and Holes until 2pm, to improve the site for wildflowers.
